Photographer Captures a Rare Sighting: A Flipped Iceberg in the Antartica

In December 2014, photographer Alex Cornell witnessed and captured the flip of an enormous iceberg. A rare incident in nature, the flip of the iceberg revealed the translucent underside, which was completely free of snow and debris.

According to Science World, almost 90% of an iceberg’s body is kept below the surface, which makes it an extraordinary and unusual sight. The deep blue color makes contrasts beautifully against the murky and gray waters of the Antarctica. The underside of the ice berg resembles the color of a gem, which is softly reflected on the water.
